We need more space dragons… Here’s to another Wednesday and another flash fiction!

I stretched my wings as I soared toward the hottest destination for sightseeing in this galaxy: the only planet to host life around here. I couldn’t wait to peak into its atmosphere, but first I needed to deal with the indigestion from swallowing an asteroid from the belt I just passed through.

My stomach rumbled, a nauseous pain settling in my gut. If I didn’t fix this, I was going to have issues with my energy breath.

I tossed my head around, but there wasn’t much to eat. I wasn’t big enough to devour moons yet, but one day, one day. I needed to find space debris quickly.

A meteoroid!

I pivoted away from the planet, flapping my wings and releasing a burst of energy from my maw as I desperately sought out that delicious space rock.

My gut rumbled again, my sphincter pinched, and the unsettling asteroid released from my behind into space.

Oops.

I watched as the rock floated through space, keeping an eye on its path.

My gut sank, but for a new reason.

My asteroid feces was aimed at the planet that hosted life.

I knew exactly what would happen; but then it didn’t. Energy shot from the planet’s atmosphere, destroying the asteroid feces into smaller pieces that wouldn’t destroy a planet upon impact.

The planet was saved.

I pivoted once more, this time away from the life-hosting planet. Maybe it was best if I didn’t dip my head in its atmosphere…
