So if you noticed, I dropped off the face of the Earth this past month.

Well, I’m still on Earth. But I did relocate on it!

At the end of August, my husband got a job offer too good to refuse and we moved from Texas to Virginia. His start date was in three weeks, and while they were giving him a bit of leeway on how quickly he moved because it’s a hybrid position, school just started in Virginia that week, and we knew that moving at the start of the school year would be better for the kids, so moved we did. We packed and moved out in two weeks.

It was insanity. I had projects due at work that being late on would be a disaster. My partner in crime did most of the packing while I shortened my hours and helped where I could. I worked at the hotel as we drove through multiple states, and when we got to our new home, I kept working.

The books were delivered on time. The family was relocated successfully.

Never again will I edit on the road.

Anyway, we’re here in Virginia now. Been here for two weeks, and I’m starting to feel more normal. I’ve got a desk set up, purchased an office chair, and I just need to obtain some shelves for my books and office supplies (my old bookcase doesn’t fit in the new space, so it’ll house our board games in a different room instead).

My new space doesn’t have room for my bulletin boards that I use for inspiration and to stay on track with everything in my life, so I’m not sure how I’ll handle my scatterbrain struggles quite yet. But my desk is long enough to have a cool felt letter on display, so maybe I’ll use that!

I’m starting to breathe normally again, though I’m still way behind on sleep and will probably be so for a while (here’s to me finding new doctors in a new state!). But I’m starting to think about writing again.

I’m back.

Here’s a picture I took of Virginia Beach. I’d never been before, and the kids are in love with it. It’s only about 20-25 minutes from where we live now, so I can foresee a lot of beach trips ahead of us. I’ve already put spare clothes and towels in the car trunk just in case, because this particular trip the picture is from really needed them!

It’s also weirdly green here. I guess I was in the brown spot of Texas too long because I forgot what green was supposed to look like in nature.

Stay tuned for weird updates on setting up my desk and as I post all the flash fiction I wrote but didn’t get around to uploading! I may also do Inktober, Writetober, or gothnowrimo as well. Haven’t had a chance to think about it yet!
