Announcing my June reads! Honestly, I can really only recommend one of them. The others were not great.
Murderbirds: Unhelpful Encyclopedia Vol. 1 by Editor Mike Jack Stoumbos is a wonderfully fun read! I highly recommend it!
The rest… Well I was mostly disappointed by all of them. But if you want to know why, continue reading. But honestly I wouldn’t bother.
A Witch and Her Reapers by Ava Scott Morgan: I had high hopes because grim reaper romance, but it was mostly about their physical attraction and almost no plot. Which is fine if that’s what you like, but I wanted to read reaper romance not reaper sexy time. If you know of any really good grim reaper romances, please tell me because I need them.
Reflections of You by Yumoryoi Wilson: Magic school + gender bender meant I had to read it. But . . . it’s all about how the main character falls in love with different people rather than the juicy fact that there is a mysterious group of magic students that killed the main character’s older brother when he was at the school years earlier. So, if you like romance and little plot and lots of spice, you’ll love it. If you like mainly plot, just pass.
Reflections of Me by Yumoyori Wilson: I read it because I was hooked on the nearly non-existant plot and needed it to be resolved. But it wasn’t. Crazy spicy, I probably wouldn’t recommend. There’s a third book that isn’t out yet and I’ve given up on the mysterious evil group. They can just keep destroying lives.
Beg, Borrow or Steal by Susie Tate: I read it because it’s similar to something I was editing for my romance freelance side gig, and research helps me when I’m editing a trope I don’t read much. It was okay but not really my thing.
Idol Star School by Nara Noelle: I’m a sucker for gender bender, and I thought the setting would be fun. B didn’t really care for it. There’s a second book but I’m not reading it. So a DNF for the series.
