2022 has been an interesting year. I’ve mostly been tired and in survival mode, keeping kids alive and work done, with nothing left for anything else. But I have had a few weeks of burst productivity here and there, or mostly just overspending myself. I had to let go of a lot of things I wanted to do (like bigger writing projects), but I’m happy with what I managed.

So here’s my 2022 list of accomplishments.

  • Wrote many stories (like a dozen plus, so nothing wild), submitted those stories, received many wonderful personal rejections, and got my first Silver Honorable Mention from Writers of the Future
  • Began posting regular flash fiction on my website and on social media pages
  • Volunteered at Fyrecon again and made wonderful friends
  • Earned 398 points for the Project Wildfyre writing challenge hosted by Fyrecon
  • Participated in the Wulf Pack writing group, though even if I didn’t often reply I did read all notifications
  • Started teaching an online fiction writing class for high school students. It’s once a week, but I’ve never taught before outside of working with authors or training editing interns, so it was a very new and exciting experience that I’m looking forward to doing more of
  • Started editing romance on the side
  • Continued to work at a small press as my day job and loved it
  • MLed for my NaNoWriMo region during November. I didn’t hit 50k words, but I made friends, hosted a few events, and had a good time
  • Found a doctor who listens to me and began making progress on my health journey. I still struggle with chronic exhaustion and energy, but it’s waaaaaay better than it was before. This is the reason I’ve actually managed to work extra at all. I’d have keeled over if I tried my work schedule last year.
  • Made progress for once on Spanish. Still a beginner, but I’ve actually studied regularly enough that I’m remembering what I’m learning rather than having to relearn it all over again every 4-8 months… Thank you, Duolingo
  • Read 30-something books according to Goodreads, almost 50 books according to Kindle (which would be including the Goodreads ones that were ebooks since I linked accounts), and at least a dozen serial romances on top of that as research/orientation for a few romance editing projects. And that probably doesn’t include the odd paperback that I forgot to add to Goodreads. I’m *really* good at this! So who knows how many books I’ve actually read!
  • Now that I think about it, I wonder if Amazon Kindle is including any books my spawn read on her Kindle? She’s got her own household account, but who knows. I’d have to look through the list.
  • Attended monthly book club like 40% of the time, which is way better than previous years. Go me! I even hosted this year *flex*

There is probably more, but it’s a good summary. Here’s to a new year!
